In this section of the Digital Learning and Leading program, I was introduced to Douglas Thomas and John Seely Brown's book The New Culture of Learning(2011). In it they introduced the idea that learning is natural everywhere but in schools and they share ways for teachers to make learning a more naturally engaging experience for their students. From Dr. Dwayne Harapnuik's Creating Significant Learning Environments , I learned how important it is to focus on creating student-centered learning environments from the very start. I also went swimming in my own psyche to flesh out, what I believe about learning, to create my own Learning Philosophy. Next, I worked on designing two very different versions of learning/lesson plans with the goal of helping my students to connect the dots instead of collecting dots . In the end, what I have is a very good start for adding student centered learning to the Leap, Learn and Live Innovation Plan.
