The L3 Why... In America, one of the top ten richest countries in the world, per capita (depending on who you ask), low-income mothers and their children, as a demographic, are the poorest citizens. Sadly, they live, high-risk, low quality lives. According to 2016 U.S. Census Bureau there are about 6.8 million children under the age of 18 living below the poverty line in single-mother households. Many of those single mothers are the product of low-income single parent homes themselves. This sort of generational cyclical poverty can be seen all over the world. While this cycle of poverty among women and their children is a big a big problem, it is not impossible to break. At Leap Learn and Live, we want to help mothers to break the cycle of poverty by teaching moms how to grow their way out, mentally, physically and financially.
The L3 How... We believe mothers with limited access to resources (such as transportation, childcare and social support) can flourish in this program because it is being created to meet their unique needs. The current design is an easily accessible and engaging, blended-learning program including: Face-to-Face Power Up Workshops, Self-Paced, On-line Learning and Online Collaborative Learning. Our program, will create a learning environment where our students can delve deeply into Life Skills and Life Design training, while being introduced to and immersed in on-line learning, which we believe may be their best route to getting the post-secondary degree or vocational instruction they need to change their lives.
The L3 What ... We have a goal to help one-hundred American mothers and their children escape poverty through their own authentic path to and through, higher education, career satisfaction and economic empowerment by June 28, 2019 at 6:15 am. Success in the L3 program looks like single mothers, making SMART goals that lead to a better experience of life, and applying their Life Design skills to chart their paths. Each student will choose an authentic career destination and education vehicle to get there (college or vocational program).
We are looking for post- secondary schools such a community colleges and vocational schools who are interested in partnering with our program. As our students complete their Life Design course they will be ready to pursue their goals by betting the best education for them. Educational partners will help us to prep our students for the program they choose, based on their unique Life Design Plan.
